Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
